Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity

The Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity is the only charity that provides financial and emotional support to the construction community and their families who have suffered an injury, illness or just need some extra support.

The charity provides a 24 /7 Construction Industry Helpline which is the first point of contact to access a range of completely free and confidential support services including financial and emotional wellbeing support. Last year the charity’s helpline received 1662 calls and provided £1,229M of support to our construction families in crisis. They also provide a free Construction Industry App which provides information, advice, and guidance on a variety of wellbeing issues including stress, anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts.

They are also a founder member of ‘Building Mental Health’, an online portal developed by industry volunteers to create a 5-step framework to help companies develop a positive mental health culture within their organisations.

Bill Hill, CEO of the Lighthouse Construction Industry Charity said, “Two construction workers take their own life every working day in the UK and 20% of all time off work is reported as being related to stress, anxiety or depression. This simply isn’t acceptable. We are morally obligated to do everything we can to change these horrendous statistics.

Working with Anomaly has enabled us to reach out to our ‘boots on the ground’ workforce to ensure that they know where to turn to in times of need. Their on-site safety television network means that we can deliver bespoke animated messages about our free and confidential 24/7 Construction Industry Helpline and helpline app which is available to all construction workers and their families”.

Fred Schiff, Special Projects Director at Anomaly added. “Mental health and wellbeing is a major issue within construction. The stress and strain on workers is of concern to everyone in the sector. The support given by the Lighthouse Club has never been more valuable so we wanted to help them to make a difference. Our on-site media platforms already have strong health and safety directives and each day communicate with 1000’s of on-site workers, contributing to a safer working environment. On World Mental Health Day we are delighted to be working alongside the Lighthouse Club to raise awareness and offer support to those in need.”
